How It Works For The End-User
Even though StarLine vehicle security systems are extremely advanced and feature-rich, they are designed to be very user-friendly and hassle-free to make use of on a day-to-day basis.
When designing our user interfaces, we take into account feedback from current users (of whom there are nearly 20 million at the moment!) – users of all ages, genders, and geographical locations. As a rule of thumb, we design our systems focusing on the NON tech-savvy customer.
So, even if you’ve never a owned a smartphone before, you will still find that your StarLine system is very easy to use! Your installer will customise the system upon installation to according to your preferences, to suit your lifestyle!
Hassle-Free & User-Fiendly Operation
Disarm
Automatic
Driver Recognition
The system can be set up to require either tag or phone OR both (as chosen by the owner) as a form of owner authentication. Without these, the system will not disarm — even if the factory key is present. Once the pre-set conditions for owner authentication have been met, the system disarms automatically. The process is instant.
Unlock
Automatic Locking/Unlocking in Hands-Free Mode
The security system can be integrated with the vehicle’s central locking system. In hands-free mode, all you need (beside the car’s factory key) is to have your phone or/and your StarLine driver ID tag on you on you as you approach the vehicle – the system will automatically disarm and unlock the vehicle for you.

Driving Prohibition Removal
An additional layer of security can be added optionally: In order to remove driving prohibition, a special PIN code sequence can be set-up on the car’s original dash buttons, which will need to be entered prior to driving. This feature can be added or removed by the owner at any time + the PIN code sequence can be changed easily.
2-Way Communication & Control
When you opt for a StarLine vehicle security system that has 2-way communication, you can choose the following options to communicate with your vehicle.
This is how you receive feedback (notifications and status updates) from your vehicle, pass commands, and access system settings:
How would you prefer to communicate with your vehicle?
- StarLine-2 (smartphone app. for GSM and Bluetooth-based systems)
- StarLine Key (smartphone app. for Bluetooth-based systems)
- 2-way LCD pager
- Browser (any device with internet connection)
- Phone call
- Text message
- Smartwatch
- Voice assistant
Owner Recognition
Turn your smartphone into a driver ID tag
StarLine systems are designed for the contemporary user. A modern vehicle owner does not want to carry any aditional tags / fobs, and though we have kept that option open (all of our systems can be supplemented with a contactless driver ID tag and/or a touch sensor; some also with a 2-way pager), – primary driver recognition is through the owner’s personal smartphone and / or a unique PIN code entered on the vehicle’s dash buttons.
In addition to the vehicle’s factory key, StarLine will require one or more form(s) of owner authentication before the security system is disarmed…
Set up an individual PIN code on the vehicle’s dash buttons. PIN code authorisation can be removed at any time. The PIN code can be changed at any time also.
Use a shockproof and water-resistant contactless driver ID tag. Tag detection range can be adjusted by the end user at any time (1-10 metres).
Use a shockproof, ergonomically-designed 2-way LCD pager. The pager can be used for 2-way communication only, or also serve as additional driver ID.
Use an external multipurpose touch sensor that can be mounted inside or outside of the vehicle. Assign any function for the sensor to perform.
Emergency Deactivation

If you need to use emergency deactivation you will be required to provide this code over the phone, or enter it via the valet switch in the cabin of your vehicle.
Also, this code will be needed in case of vehicle recovery i.e. if the anti-hijack mode was activated, this code will needed in order to deactivate it.
This is the password to your account at the StarLine ConnectedCars online network >>>
This is the code name for the StarLine platform used on your vehicle.
You will need this 4-digit PIN code if you're entering maintenance mode via the valet switch installed inside your vehicle's cabin.
You will also need to provide this code to your StarLine technician if you require any settings to be altered at any time post-installation.
This is a unique serial number that lets us trace your StarLine vehicle security system from the moment it left the manufacturing facility, to the point it was installed on your vehicle.
We will need you to provide this serial number to confirm that your StarLine system is genuine / was installed by an approved Partner, and is eligible for warranty.
Since our systems are so technologically advanced, customers often worry that something might ‘go wrong’, and they will get stuck with their vehicle that doesn’t start or keeps triggering for no apparent reason.
First of all, – with StarLine systems, this is a very rare occurrence. Our systems have a very low failure rate (less than 5% to be exact — compared to other manufacturers’, whose telematic systems fail or cause issues at a rate of over 50%).
But if something does go wrong, you can always contact your StarLine technician, or use an easy emergency deactivation procedure (that you will be introduced to upon installation) in order to disable the system temporarily until the cause of the issue is found.
